Art painting section was established 1971st on the initiative of the Union of Shipyard "Split" which puts it in the oldest art group in Croatia.
   Its active operation and the sudden development activities should be primarily due to the development of KUD Brodosplit, where it participated in the programs of former SIZ and OSIZ for culture. Activity section primarily effect on cultural policy in the collective through animation and realization of the working space, especially the dining room under slipways.    Members of the section work closely with the School of Applied Art, so Graduates of this school can accomplish their final work in the shipyard.
   Section collaborates with the Gallery "Meštrović" school "Mirko Dumanić", Museum of the City of Split, universities, etc.
   Special Activity of the section takes place in the organization of the exhibitions "Jadranbrod" and Workers creativity. The most fertile activity of section was in Atelier "Kaštelet" under the expert guidance of prof. Vincent Protic, where his first performances had Male Choir Brodosplit under the leadership of prof. Joseph Veršić. Unforgettable are the meetings and cooperation with ULAK Karlovac, "Uljanik" Pula, "Podravka" Koprivnica, V.J. Varaždin, "Group 69" Zagreb, "Luka" Rijeka, etc.

   Section passed through over 60 members mainly from the shipyard, and today has 20 painters and sculptors. The founders of the section and its Presidents were: Pero Dulčić, Joško Rupnik, Ante Jerončić. Andrija Lulić.
   For his work section has received many awards including most valuable award from "Prosvjetni Sabor Hrvatske" (Educational Croatian Parliament).
